First thing I checked upon my own recent return was your profile, hoping against hope I'd find an address to your site here, remembering fondly hours spent viewing your photographs of lighter and darker subjects...
I hope you're still going strong somewhere out there, snapping those sweet pictures and posting them somewhere you feel safe...
As you may know, I left Deviant Art due to philosophical differences with the administration and moved over to flickr. [link] I have been totally inactive photog for the past few years, but recently have dusted off my lens and decided to give it another shot (or two.) I can't compare DA to Flickr as I felt a part of a real community here back in the early days and I just failed to connect at Flickr. However, unless I have a total change of heart, Flickr will continue to be my photographic portal.
I remember, and I still support your decision completely - and now, having access to your sweet works once again, I can only hope DA'll change their philosophy so we all get you back here.
Until that happens I'll be watching you closely on Flickr
Deviant Art was a fantastic place for me to start reinventing my photography and I miss it. I am active on Flickr but it's really not the same environment there. I have strong convictions on ownership of ones' own material, and that prevents me from being active again on DA. That someone can sneak in fine print that they are stealing our work, and by approving the user agreement, we give them our permission to do so, will always be a sore point with me. I can understand that DA needs to muster revenue, and I would only hope they had chosen a way to do so that was above board, and allowed those members who did not want to participate, to stay clear of the business venture.
